A huge part of UBW consists of making contact with hospitals and funeral directors nationwide.
Making the initial contact is quite easy but sadly due to the amount of work hospitals have to deal with on a daily basis; sometimes it can take days or weeks to receive a response or feedback, if any at all.
Once initial contact is made, some hospitals may ask that a small sample of stock be sent to them, while others may ask to meet face to face. Again it can take a while before the hospital has it agreed or not with the correct people their end.
Once UBW have been given the go ahead to donate, the first initial donation is made. All of our donations consist of a standard size cardboard box which is filled to the top of donations received from our lovely crafters. Once the initial donation has been used, the hospital will contact us to advise they require more items and so this continues for as long as babies continue to die.
As well as donating clothing, blankets and teddies, on the odd occasion we may also be asked to donate premature moses baskets and handmade cribs. Some hospitals may only ask for items in white while some may only ask for a specific size of clothing.
